Sophia’s Mini Pasticceria
Before commencing this bake, Sophia knew she had to channel her inner Italian. The years in London and her constant interaction with english folk had taken their toll. She sat in a dark room, draped in an Italian flag and listening to Andrea Bocelli. ‘Be like Nonna, be like Nonna..’ she whispered to herself. After a peaceful period, she rose and flew into the kitchen in a beautiful no-nonsense Italian blend of passion and rage to create her own little Italy in Dorset. Pots panged and whisks blurred, pets hid and people scarpered. The results were served with a jug of espresso so strong your legs didn’t work for a bit. Ricotta, pistachio, orange zest and 85% dark chocolate were piped into cannoli, vegan-friendly cranberry, pistachio and dark chocolate biscotti were laid out and almond soft, chewy biscuits were thrown in for good measure. It felt like the dev team had found someone on the dark web to rob a pasticceria for us. Guilt seeped through our veins as we attacked the plates like recently imprisoned hobbits at a food fair. Crumbs were everywhere and it felt good. Grazie Sophia.
